Marriage Today (1950)

A ponderously narrated film about from the "Marriage for Moderns" series, directed by Alexander Hammid. This film features two couples, Kathy and Frank Hartford and Phyllis and Chad Burns. Kathy has chosen to continue working as a teacher after marrying and having a child, while Phyllis has quit her job as a pathologist in order to have a child and be a woman. Both women are smarter than their husbands. Like other Hammid films from this series, marriage is made to look like a chore: a tedious series of negotiations and compromises. Staying single starts to look pretty good.
